Timing is good for extending ties with Morocco. The uncertainties brought on by Brexit create new

opportunities for collaboration with Africa, particularly reinforcing relationships and ties with our

Moroccan diaspora. Our histories bindus together and new partnerships could create arrangements of

mutual benefit.

The purpose of the Office in Tangier is to build business opportunities and extend cultural and

educational ties between the Rock and its neighbour, Morocco.

The office will support both Associations. Gibraltar will benefit from this set-up in multiple ways. For

example, throughcreating new services and business relationships and thus reducing our overreliance on

Spain. The Office will provide a gateway for other international partnerships (for example China) that

are increasingly taking root in Morocco.

This office is supported by the Gibraltar-Morocco Business Association (GMBA) that was set up recently

and already has over 4500 active followers in the Facebook page (Gibraltar Business Exchange Maroc).

Our first meeting was well attended by business, cultural and local community groups in Gibraltar and

have set up a twin association in Tangiers registered as “Straits Of Gibraltar Association” with the same

aims and aspirations as GMBA, their first public meeting was held 19 th April 2019 at “The International

Institute for sustainabledevelopments” office in Tangier.

The office is managed privately and supported by HMGOG and both Associations, we are centrally

situated and is manned by completely tri lingual employees to assist any potential business person in

overcoming a language or cultural barriers.
